A comma separated value file is a spreadsheet which contains all the data in a roadmap. All items, fields, dates, and other values are stored in the file. Use this export feature to enter roadmap data into other software.

Export to CSV

To export to CSV use the Export button and select Export to CSV. This operation can be done from any roadmap view.

Save the CSV file to the local computer.

CSV Rows

All Items from an exported roadmap are saved as CSV rows. Milestones can not be saved to CSV.

CSV Columns

All Fields are converted to column headers in the CSV file. Every custom field becomes its own column header.

CSV Explained

There are two extra column headers in an exported CSV.

Bucket - This is a Fuzzy Time feature which will only have a value if there is a fuzzy date set for an item. For more on fuzzy time see here.

External ID - This is the Roadmunk or JIRA ID tag which is assigned to the item. This can be used if re-importing or syncing items with JIRA, but can be ignored for all other purposes.

CSVs in Excel Issues

Roadmunk's export engine defaults to North American standard CSV formats, using commas as delimiters. In regions outside of North America, to open a Roadmunk CSV file in Excel, it is necessary to use the Text Import Wizard in Excel. This will tell Excel how to read the CSV correctly.

Use UTF-8 Encoding
