Synchronizing Sub-items to Jira
While Roadmunk supports the ability to create sub-items that are synchronized with Jira, there is a slight limitation to be aware of when working with this feature. Roadmunk's Sub-items feature (like Key Dates, Milestones, and Dependencies) exists solely on Roadmunk and cannot be reflected in Jira at this time. Though items synchronized with Jira can be setup to use these Roadmunk exclusive features and details, it's worth being aware of the fact that the parent and child structure cannot be synchronized back into Jira.
Roadmaps with No Dates Mapped to Jira
If dates are not mapped to Roadmunk during the initial setup process of your Jira integration on your roadmap, then you are able to take full advantage of Roadmunk's sub-items feature on all of your items. This includes the ability to set items pulled from Jira as both parent and child items, retain the parent-child structure on the roadmap any future syncs, and apply Jira dependencies to them once dates have been added in Roadmunk.
Roadmaps with Dates Mapped to Jira
If dates are mapped to Roadmunk during the initial setup process of your Jira integration on your roadmap, then there are some slight limitations that you may run into when using sub-items. First and foremost, users will find that they are still able to create child items with Jira synced items that have dates mapped to Jira; however, they will also find that they are limited in their ability to create parent items or dependencies on Jira synced items that have their dates mapped to Jira.
At this time, the only workaround would be to create a new roadmap and re-sync the same project from Jira without mapping the dates. For more information on setting up a Jira integrated roadmap, click here.
