Publish a View to a Web-Hosted Format (URL)
For more details on available features in other plans, click here.
When you publish to a URL, you create a shareable link that points to an image of the view published on the Roadmunk host. Share the link with anyone or set up a password to provide access only to selected people.
Publishing a Timeline or Swimlane

1. In the View dropdown on the Roadmap navbar, select the view you want to publish.
You should see the Timeline or Swimlane icon selected in the View navbar, depending on the view's visualization type.
2. On the View navbar, click the Export icon.
3. In the dropdown, select Export to PNG, HTML, URL.
You should now see a preview of what the image will look like.
Publish the view

- On the preview screen's top navbar, click the URL icon.
NOTE: If you don't like how the preview looks, click the X in the top-right corner of the screen to go back to the view, make the changes you want, and then re-export. - On the export panel, specify your export settings:
- Background: Select Transparent or White (default) for the image background.
- Layout: Select the view properties you want to appear on the image, including:
- Title (roadmap and view names)
- Legend (what the colors mean)
- Company Logo
- Vision Statement
- Footer Text
- Auto Publish: Select the cadence at which to automatically publish your roadmap
- Password/SSO Enforcement: Secure your roadmap using standard or SSO authentication
- Click the Publish to URL button at the bottom-right to publish the roadmap.
Set up the link
- After clicking Publish to URL, copy the link from the URL field.
- Open the link in your browser to test it and see the published view.
- To password-protect the link, enter a Password. A password is optional.
Share the URL
Once a view is published to a URL, you can share the link any time by copying it in the Export dropdown.
Who can publish a view to a URL?
To publish a roadmap view to a URL, you must be the roadmap's Owner or the roadmap must be shared with you as an Editor. You can't publish a view if you share the roadmap as a Viewer.
Although only Owners and Editors can publish a view, anyone with access to a roadmap can view and share the roadmap's link by copying it in the Export dropdown.
Publish a View to an Offline Format (PNG or HTML)

Choosing to export to a PNG file or an HTML file depends on how and where you want to use the output. For the differences between the two formats, see the PNG or HTML? section later on in the article.

PNG or HTML?
Exporting a view as a PNG image is right choice if you want to insert the image in a printed document or embed it in a PowerPoint presentation, video, or web page for presenting on screen.
HTML is the right choice if you want to create an interactive version of your view. Exporting to HTML creates an interactive web page with items that can be clicked to display item details like date range and pivot field values.
Who can export a view?
Unlike roadmap items and milestones, anyone with access to a roadmap can export its views to PNG or HTML, including the roadmap's Owner and users sharing the roadmap as an Editor or a Viewer.
Publish a Master Roadmap to URL, PNG, or HTML
For more details on available features in other plans, click here.
Just like regular roadmaps, you can export the items in a Master roadmap to a CSV file. You can also export a Master roadmap's view as a PNG or HTML file, as well as publish it to a URL.
NOTE: Since Master roadmaps have only one view created by rolling up source views, you don't need to select the view you want to export or publish as you do when exporting a regular roadmap.
Enforce SAML SSO on Published Roadmaps
For more details on available features in other plans, click here.
To ensure that users comply with company security policies, account admins have the option to Enforce SAML Protection on Published Roadmaps for anyone viewing a published roadmap.

Once SAML SSO has been enabled by an account admin:
- Navigate to Account Settings from the navigation bar
- In the window that appears, click on the Company tab
- Check the Enforce SAML Protection on Published Roadmaps checkbox
NOTE: You will still have the option to disable this enforcement on a per-roadmap basis by selecting the Disable SSO requirement checkbox prior to republishing your roadmap.
Hide Fields on Exported Roadmaps (URL or HTML)
For more information on user permissions, click here.
Roadmaps are often seen as living, breathing documents that are full of contextual data which helps to build the story of your product; however, while the full scope of contextual data in your roadmap might be suitable for your team and other internal users, external users often don't need to see every little detail of the roadmap - just the important pieces.
Interactive published roadmap formats (URL & HTML) give users the option to hide fields from the item cards on the exported document, to ensure that users have control over which data external users will see and which data remains internal-facing only.
From the roadmap view you're looking to publish:
- Navigate to the Export button on the tool bar in the top-right corner
- Select the option to Export to PNG, HTML, URL from the menu that appears
- In the publishing menu, select either the HTML or URL tab
- From the formatting panel on the right-hand side, click into the Hide Fields drop down
- Select the fields you are looking to hide from the export in this drop down
Once your fields have been selected, you can publish your roadmap and save these changes by selecting the Publish button at the bottom of the formatting panel.
